This was taken at a monument to Polegreen Church, where dissident Presbyterian preacher Samuel Davies preached before the Revolutionary War. Patrick Henry ("Give me liberty, or give me death!") said that he learned all he needed about oratory from Davies' sermons.
This is a portrait of Bob Bluford, who worked for 20 years to preserve this property and build the monument. He's also--did you guess?--a Presbyterian minister.
