(Anatomy of a Flower Show 4)

I went to the New York Botanical Garden to report on the upcoming Kiku chrysanthemum show. The show wasn't up yet, but I was able to speak to the head gardener and see where the magic was happening...or about to happen.

These are the ogiku, or "single stem" chrysanthemums, quietly growing taller in the nursery. The wooden slats are to hold them straight after they get to a certain height.
