There were many people passing through, but also many standing around and chatting with friends as they waited for the doors to open.
By the way, I've realized that my recent series tend to revolve around a certain background or texture...I'm sorry if this is boring for you. I tend to take pictures in large batches, and my more sedentary life style of late has meant that a lot of photos come from the same places. No more traipsing around different areas of Japan for me!
I must say, New York City continues to provide a lot of inspiration.

This is very nice. I think it is the second best thus far. It has some sense of depth, but not nearly as much as the first image. Overall, I think the tones are fairly nice, and the composition is spot on.

@Daniel: Ok, I'd say that's fair =) Thanks for continued interest! I'm so happy when people drop by.
I'm also really glad you like the tone--the whole time I was shooting, I was very worried about the light and how it would turn out. I'm also still experimenting with the PP...I try to be subtle. It's like the doctor's oat: First, do no harm.
nice narrative

@Fernando D. Rubio: Thanks! I like your street shots a lot, so this is a real compliment.
Well done.

@Craig Persel: Thanks for dropping by!
Don't feel this one quite as much as the first, however it still has some endearing qualitieis. The lighting is still good, your processing is excellent, I love the sort of gritty style of B&W you've done with these. The juxtaposition between the man hurrying to who knows where and the two slightly mysterious people talking in the foreground speaks. Well done as always, keep up the great work!

@Paul Ricciardi: Thanks Paul! I'm not sure how much of my "processing" was intentional, and how much was happy accident...but thank you anyway =)
I really like the graininess in your b&w Evelyn. Was the original image like this or did you do that during processing? I sympathize with you re the traipsing around Japan thing too! ;-) Life in New York must be such a contrast to here, I can't even begin to imagine. Another great post!

@Stu: You know, I've actually felt a little troubled by all the grain in my images...I don't think my camera has a RAW format setting, and in low light it generally doesn't perform very well. I shot this one at a fairly slow shutter to try to compensate, just hoping that my hands wouldn't shake too much.
So the short answer would be: no, I do not add graininess. But I'm glad that it's turned out to be an advantage as opposed to a flaw, at least according to the comments I've been getting!
FYI: I don't actually live in New York! I'm a frequent visitor from New Jersey (^_^)
Nice shadows there mate. I like it, and agree with the mysterious feeling the image has.

@Darren: Thanks Darren! I guess I have been experimenting a little more with what goes on outside the frame lately...
I like this atmosphere. :-)

@tetsu: Hello Tetsu-san! Sorry I haven't dropped in on you for a while! お久しぶりですよね!コメントありがとうございます。
The graininess is great! I just don't get that effect no matter how hard I try!! I like the way it adds atmosphere and gives texture. You mentioned that you have a similarity amongst groups of photos - I like this, it provides a sense of coherence. And I'm still looking forward to the rest!!

@Bronnie: Hi Bronnie, that's so funny that you're trying to be grainier! Just FYI, I think that there is a special filter in PS that allows you to add grain. I've never really used it myself, but I noticed that it was there while i was doing some experimentation recently. Glad the series structure doesn't get on your nerves at all! Cheers.
Really you've done a very interesting series. Each shot tells a story and all have a great unity! I admire!

@Still: Thanks Still. It's not every day that I get an opportunity to take series like this. Something in me is saying, "Only in Manhattan..." Most of the week I live in boring old New Jersey =)
