This one old woman sat there for the longest time, alone in the spotlight...I wonder if she knew I was taking her picture.

EDIT: Eleventh Hour photo edits as per Daniel's suggestion. I got rid of the person in the middle, who was kind of bothering me, anyway...sorry for changing up the image so late! (9:17 p.m., 1/17/2007)

It does indeed look ghostly. That woman under the spotlight really stands out, and she seems to be looking right at you! She contrasts nicely with the moving 'shadows' on the left. Again, great b&w.

Hah, she kind of does look like Warhol. I hate warhol, his stuff is just a bunch of BS. This, however, has some substance to it, some sense of story, some sense of a personal narrative. Nicely done, rather haunting. Oh, and, in case you're ever talking to a theatre person, it's a follow spot not a spot light. And yes, my hotmail is perfectly good for a high res of the previous shot.

@Paul Ricciardi: Haha, yes, I'll make a note of that--follow light. I've never really done theater myself, although I did do some children's theater in college. That didn't really involve any stage lights.

Again, I'm very flattered that you find substance in my work!

I don't think this works as well as the previous one. First, the tones are not as vibrant; it appears the highlights are blown out and the shadows are completely black. That only leaves the midtones - at least that is how it looks on my laptop =). Compositionally, I think it almost works wonderfully, except for the person watching the monitor(?). I think that person throws off the nice triangle created by the other three people.

All that said, I like this series so far. Cheers!

@Daniel: Hi Daniel, I think I agree with you on most points. I don't get a washout of midtones on my computer, so it may be a monitor difference; but what I did have trouble with on this image was the fact that I didn't get as clear of a shot. The details aren't as taut.

Good point about the extra person--maybe I'll try working something on PS...

@Daniel: I did indeed. Thanks for the comment. I decided you were right--and it was really kind of bothering me that the person was so hard to see, in the first place.
